Managing Your Pain

In Western medicine, pain killer and anti-inflammatory drugs are the most popular form of treatment. Unfortunately, the treatment is not always highly effective and does not usually address root causes. While pain is reduced through a long period of medications, side effects often become more troublesome than the condition itself.

Acupuncture is known for managing pain. Acupuncture is a holistic method that utilizes an individual’s own natural healing power to address the pain and its root cause. Scientific research indicates that placing needles into the acupuncture points stimulates the body to produce natural steroids and release endorphins. Steroids decrease inflammation, while endorphins inhibit pain. These substances are more potent in relieving pain than many prescription drugs or pain killers.

Many patients have noticed reduced or improved pain within the first several sessions. For those who have chronic or severe pain, swelling, and stiffness, the conditions will be relieved and managed by more acupuncture treatments. For acute pain, fewer treatments are needed.
